Thoughts on Reverend Wright

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Reverend Wright is wrong. His “black liberation theology” is un-scriptural in more ways than I have the desire to detail here, but I’ll deal with one of his most offensive statements:

“God damn America!”

Like “God bless America!”, this is a blasphemous statement. Who has the authority to command God to do anything, positive or negative?

“God blessed America!” is a true statement of fact.

“May God bless America!” is either pronouncing a blessing or expressing a wish.

Just because Reverend Wright is a veteran does not mean is patriotism is above question. I question the patriotism of anyone who orders God to damn America. Even if he was just using hyperbole, he would have to have a problem like Alzheimer’s not know what he was saying.

I feel sorry for his wife.

I feel sorry for his daughters.

I think the billionaire should be offered enrollment in a witness protection program.

Florida & Michigan “do overs”

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

It is quite arrogant of Howard Dean to expect the Republican and Independent taxpayers to pay for the Democrats mistakes. The legislature of Florida (and presumably Michigan also) were well within their authority to set the dates for the primaries in their state. If the taxpayers in their states are paying for the primary elections, then the legislatures surely have the right to set the date of the voting.

If the parties don’t like the date of elections they don’t have to pay for, then maybe it is time for the parties to pay for their own primaries!
