One man, half a vote?

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I had hoped the the Democrat Party would uphold the principal of “one man, one vote” when seating the Florida and Michigan delegations.

The legislatures in Michigan and Florida passed laws to fund primaries and set their dates.  The people voted according to those laws.  The voters did nothing wrong, so punishing them is unjust.

The next time Florida and Michigan should include clauses to make it a felony for party leaders not to fully count votes and to cheat the voters out of delegates.

Party rules

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

As private organizations the Democrat and Republican parties have the right to create rules for their organizations.

However, they do not have the right to tell state legislatures what to do nor penalize the voters of states who follow the laws of the state the reside in.

How can the parties expect the states to pay for conducting their primaries without the states having any say in the timing of what they are paying for?

Only in Nazi Germany and Communist countries did “the party” get to tell the government what to do.

Also, whatever happened to the principle of “one man, one vote”? How can the parties say that votes don’t count or they are worth only half as much as normal?

When a party says my vote doesn’t count because of something beyond my control, they maybe I should pick another party in November!

Deja vu. It is 1976 all over again.

We have caused the high oil prices.

We make it impossible to drill for oil in Alaska or off shore reducing supply.

We restrict refineries to hurricane areas on the Gulf Coast reducing the supply of refined oil products.

We have devalued our dollar which makes oil priced in international markets more expensive.

Oil Company Profits Headlines

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Most news stories about oil company profits are propaganda pieces.  Why?  Because they just report the net profits.  They do not tell how much was invested to make those profits.

If you invested $100 and got $7 back in profit, no one would think your 7% profit was obscene.

But when an oil company invests hundreds of billions of dollars and makes a 7% profit, that fact that their profit was only 7% is hidden and the few billions in profit is trumpetted.

Hillary Clinton’s plan to steal oil company profits is not going to help us get energy independence.
